Nashville Sail Camp is proud of growing the summer camp staff from within the longtime campers who have attended in the past. The tradition of Teen Leaders continues for summer 2018 but with the added structure to ensure the participants are getting what they need to be able to advance to staff positions in the future. Have fun, make friends and learn leadership skills at camp. Teen Leadership Adventure @ Sail Camp encourages leadership through two unique and fun programs. Teen Leaders participate in sailing, skills development and leading younger campers in activities. Camp is a great way for the teen in your life to take the lead!
Leaders-In-Training (LIT), Ages 14-15
The Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program provides the foundation of skill development for young leaders with a focus on:

Leaders-in-Training is available at two locations - Old Hickory & Percy Priest Lakes
Each week is Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm
Extended care is available from 7:45am-5:15 pm for an additional $50 fee
Participation is limit to 4 Leaders-In-Training (LIT) each week.
Leaders-in-Training (LIT) candidates must have completed at least one session as a sail camp camper prior to enrolling in Leaders-in-Training (LIT).
Counselors-In-Training (CIT) Ages 15-17
After completing the LIT program, teen leaders can sign up as a Counselor-In-Training (CIT). This can be done in one season, including LIT, or over multiple seasons. Counselor-In-Training (CIT) is supervised by the head counselor and partnered with a counselor mentor, but Counselor-In-Training (CIT) are never responsible for supervising campers on their own.

After completing at least two weeks as a CIT, the following season a Teen Leader may apply to be a Junior Counselor, which is a paid staff position at camp. With demonstrated skill and knowledge, staff members can promote into an Instructor, which requires they take the US Sailing certification course.
